Know How

HV Ramp

At the high-voltage test it may be requested that the voltage is increased in form of a ramp. Especially at the type test according to the standard this can be stipulated. This process is also often used for motors (which were for example repaired). Another reason can be at very high capacitive test object which are tested with direct voltage. In order to avoid a very strong charging current shock the voltage is slowly increased.

The picture above shows a possibe voltage process (AC or DC). The left ramp shows the typical voltage process at which the voltage is slowly increased up to the requested value. After the end of the test type the voltage is switched off without ramp.

The electronic-suppied high-voltage from the tester is high-precise! The voltage rise – and drop in the form of an adjustable ramp is perfect. The voltage is exactly set, without any overshoot.

Thanks to the latest technology a fast switchoff in case of a breakdown is also assured!
