Standard DIN EN 60950-1 (VDE 0805-1) applies to mains- or battery operated information technology equipment, including electric office equipment and for corresponding devices with nominal voltages up to 600 V.
Independent from the type of mains supply, the standard also applies for those information technology equipment which is manufactured and intended for use as telecommunications terminal equipment or for the telecommunications´ infrastructure or to be directly connected to a cable distribution system or its infrastructure or to be intended to use the AC- supply circuit as transmission medium for communication.
