Test areas are protected from contact with the test object during testing by a mesh fence and one or more monitored safety gates. If this optimizes material flow or accessibility within the test area, multiple safety gates are used. The safety gates are made of the same mesh material as the mesh fence.

All metallic components of the mesh fence and safety gates are electrically interconnected and extensively grounded. In the event of a voltage leakage to the protective device, this is safely discharged to earth due to the complete grounding of the test area, thus protecting the operator outside.

Inspections are only possible with the safety door closed. The condition of the safety doors is continuously monitored by a safety-approved, dual-channel monitoring system with a safety PLC. This complies with the requirements and standards for mandatory contact protection.

During an inspection, warning lights at various points on the fence signal the increased danger.

Opening a safety door during an ongoing inspection is not possible. A locking mechanism prevents the safety doors from being opened.

Emergency stop buttons are also placed on the fence to allow the testing process to be aborted in a critical situation.
