PortaTest
Fully automatic testing device for insulating and transformer oils
The PortaTest oil testing device enables the fully automatic determination of the dielectric strength of insulating oils. It can be used both on-site and in the laboratory. The wide-opening protective hood allows the test cup to be easily placed onto the high-voltage electrodes in the test chamber.
Key Facts:
- Dielectric strength test
- Test voltages 60 kV, 80 kV and 100 kV
- Testing of insulating materials
- Variable test voltage and variable test voltage rise
- Integrated test sequences according to national and international standards

The testing process is fully automated. The corresponding test sequences for all common national and international standards and test specifications are stored in the oil tester. In addition, up to 10 user-defined test sequences can be saved in the device.
The following test runs are available to you.
- 13 standard test sequences matching the following test standards:
- IEC 60156
- VDE 0370/96
- BS 5874/80
- UTE C27-221/74
- UNE 21309/89
- NEN 10156
- SEV 3141/69
- CEI 10-1/73
- ASTM D 1816/90
- ASTM D 877/90
- JIS 2101/82
- JIS Si 2101/82
- IS 6855/92
- 10 freely programmable test sequences
- Quick test plan for rapid condition assessment (test duration: 5 min.)
- Overload test, single breakdown measurement
- Withstand voltage test (1 min – 24 h) with programmable rate of increase
- Step test (1 – 10 steps)
Oil samples can be labelled by the PortaTest either automatically with a sequential number or by the operator entering a number.
After each test, a detailed test report is printed using the built-in thermal printer. The printout includes the test standard used, the date, time, sample number, individual pass values, mean, and standard deviation.
If required, the test results can also be transferred from the oil tester to the PC, saved and test reports printed out using SCHLEICH's own PC software PrintCom. PrintCom saves the results in EXCEL® format. The EXCEL® form is freely configurable and allows the easy creation of individual test reports.
Operation is very simple and user-friendly thanks to the clear graphic display. Four function keys below the display are all that's needed for input. These are used to select the test sequence, enter data, configure custom test sequences, and configure the test instrument's general setup. Here, settings and options such as language can be selected.
