Pneumatic wire clamps are used in production to quickly connect bare, stripped wire ends. The wire to be connected is inserted into a hole in the clamp, approximately one centimeter deep. A movable valve plate is located at the bottom of the hole. As soon as the wire pushes this plate down slightly, the integrated valve is triggered, and a clamping cylinder inside the clamp presses against the wire, thus establishing contact. A black push button on the clamp releases the connection.

Any number of clamps can be easily operated via a single compressed air supply. If the entire compressed air supply is interrupted, all clamps open simultaneously. This is ideal for quickly and efficiently opening all contact points together after testing.

For special applications, multiple terminals can be embedded in a single terminal block. This allows for a close arrangement of terminals with high insulation. A common valve allows all connections within a group of terminals to be released simultaneously by a single signal.

The connection is made using two-wire technology. Due to the contact resistance in the terminal, ohmic resistances smaller than 1–10 Ω cannot be reliably measured. For small resistances, Kelvin clamps or Kelvin clamps using four-wire technology must therefore be used.
