The time has come – as of January 14, 2020, Microsoft has officially ended support for Windows 7®. A good, reliable operating system is retiring, to be replaced by an even better one.
What does this mean for you?
Windows 10® is likely already in use within your organization, or perhaps your IT department has even mandated it as the operating system for computers operating within your networks.
But what happens now with your SCHLEICH GLP3, MTC2, and MTC3 test devices running Windows 7®?
The good news:
Upgrading a SCHLEICH tester to Windows 10® is possible.
Even upgrades from Windows XP® to Windows 10® are possible – but naturally, only as long as it remains economically viable! After all, why invest resources in a fully depreciated automated test system that operates flawlessly without a network connection?
Naturally, you could continue to operate your test device with an older Windows version.
However, anyone who operates their test device within the company network and/or prioritizes highest safety should upgrade to Windows 10® . Otherwise, Windows 7® can quickly become a vulnerability for unwanted intrusions into the company network.
We also recommend that you inform yourself directly with Microsoft® regarding the implications of the end of support for Windows 7®.
