Testing devices for the sense of rotation the sense of rotation

The sense of rotation test performed on electric motors. The test can stator on both Motor fully assembled Motor the stator .

The test on Motor performed using a wide variety of speed and direction sensors. For example, reflective light barriers or encoders can be used.

The stator tested using static sensors to detect the sense of rotation magnetic field.

Key facts:

  • sense of rotation stator
    • Non-contact without rotating parts
    • For asynchronous and synchronous motors
  • sense of rotation shaft on Motor
    • Non-contact via optical scanning
    • By direct measurement on the shaft
    • Through any rotary encoders, encoders of all kinds, resolvers, etc. that may be present.
    • Often also in combination with speed measurement

The sense of rotation test electric motor

Depending on the test requirements, various methods are available:

remanence

The motor shaft is turned by hand. The phase sequence is determined from the three-phase voltage generated by remanence—and thus the sense of rotation.
Typical for: MotorAnalyzer

Speed and direction sensor

The electric motor powered and runs. The sense of rotation speed of the motor shaft are measured using sensors.
Typical for: EOL tester GLP3

scatter field measurement

The electric motor powered and runs. The externally measurable stray field of the motor provides information about the sense of rotation.
Typical for: EOL tester GLP3

acceleration analysis

During the start-up phase, the sense of rotation is determined sense of rotation the acceleration direction.
Typical for: EOL tester GLP3

The rotation direction test on stator

Depending on motor type , different methods motor type used:

asynchronous motor

The sense of rotation determined using a static Hall element sensor.
Typical for: MotorAnalyzer, MTC3

synchronous motor

Here, static hall element sensors detect the magnetic fields of the poles and derive the sense of rotation from them.
Typical for: MotorAnalyzer, MTC3

The sense of rotation test

sense of rotation test the MotorAnalyzer
The sense of rotation test an electric motor to ensure that the Motor rotates in the intended direction Motor being connected. This is a critical step in the Commissioning maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.

Many machines (pumps, fans, compressors, conveyor belts, centrifuges) may only run in a specific direction. An incorrect sense of rotation lead to immediate mechanical damage, overload, or failure of the system.

The MotorAnalyzer determines the sense of rotation by manually turning the shaft of the asynchronous machine. The device the induced signals and immediately provides information about the sense of rotation.

Caution: Despite successful testing, the Motor may sense of rotation a different sense of rotation Motor connected later if the phase sequence (L1, L2, L3) is reversed. A final sense of rotation test site is therefore essential.
