Functional safety of drive inverters for vehicle systems

The drive inverter is a safety-relevant component in the vehicle.
Malfunctions could lead to serious problems and damage.

Therefore, to test drive inverters, fault simulations must be replicated.
Here are some examples of different tests:

  • Complete test of the inverter incl. flashing of firmware etc.
  • Simulation of the high voltage battery supply
  • Power and harmonic measurements
  • Fault simulations:
    • Interruption of the interlock
    • Interruptions of the connection to the battery
    • Simulation of deviations of the supply voltages
    • Short circuits between phases or in the drive motor
    • Interruption of one or more phases
    • Simulation of motor faults
    • Interference on temperature sensors
    • Analysis and interference effects of rotor position sensors such as resolvers or encoders of all types
    • Interference on the communication with the drive inverter
    • and more

SCHLEICH supplies test equipment specially designed for this standard.
These are very user-friendly, ideal in application and provide you with all necessary documents and proofs after completion of the test.
Of course, the testing devices are industrially networkable as well as MES and CAQ capable.  The storage of raw data is also one of our typical features.

Due to copyright reasons we are not allowed to publish any details of this standard. The decisive factor for the specific application is the currently valid testing standard.
