Two-hand controls
Protection against electrical hazards
For test stands with a function test or high voltage test without a test cover and without test probes, a two-hand start must be used.
These Accessories are suitable for your SCHLEICH test device. Please note that they can only be purchased in combination with a SCHLEICH test device.
Key Facts:
- Safety during high voltage and function testing
- Optional with built-in emergency stop
- General safety when testing with personnel-hazardous test voltage
2 Product Variants
Show all 2 product variantsIt can happen that large devices under test cannot be accommodated within a test cover. Nevertheless, testing may still need to be performed with hazardous test voltage and without appropriate safety current limitation.
Examples include:
Large Motors
Control cabinets
Large transformers
If testing, which poses a hazard to personnel, cannot be run with safety test probes, two-hand operation must be used. In this case, two control elements (buttons) must be actuated synchronously with both hands within a timeframe of 0–0.5 seconds. Actuation of the control elements with one hand or other body parts is prevented by sufficient spacing, partition walls, or other constructive measures.
An evaluation device approved by the Employers' Liability Insurance Association continuously checks whether this condition is met. If so, the evaluation device triggers the start of the test device. As a rule, both two-hand buttons must remain pressed throughout the entire test duration. Premature release of a control element leads to the cancel of the test.
By design, two-hand operation only protects the person operating it. Therefore, supplementary measures, such as barriers, may be recommended.

The two-hand operation is mounted on a stand here. During testing, personnel must maintain a sufficient safety distance.
