Test fields protect against contact with the device under test during testing through a mesh fence and one or more monitored safety doors. If this optimizes material flow or accessibility of the test field, multiple safety doors are used. The safety doors are made from the same mesh material as the mesh fence.

All metallic components of the mesh fence and safety doors are electrically connected to each other and extensively grounded. In the event of voltage transfer to the protective measures, it is safely discharged to earth due to the complete grounding of the test field, thereby protecting the operator standing outside.

Tests are only possible when the safety door is closed. The status of the safety doors is continuously monitored by a safety-approved, two-channel monitoring system with a safety PLC. This complies with the specifications and standards for mandatory contact protection.

During a test, warning lights at various points on the safety fence signal the increased danger.

Opening a safety door during an ongoing test is not possible. An interlock prevents the safety doors from being opened.

Additionally, emergency stop buttons are placed on the safety fence to abort the test sequence in a critical situation.
