PortaTest
Fully automatic test device for insulating and transformer oils
The PortaTest oil test device enables the fully automatic determination of the dielectric strength of insulating oils. It can be used both on-site and in the laboratory. The widely opening protective cover allows the test cell to be easily placed on the high-voltage electrodes in the test chamber.
Key Facts:
- Dielectric strength test
- TEST VOLTAGES 60 kV, 80 kV and 100 kV
- Testing of insulating materials
- Variable TEST VOLTAGE and variable TEST VOLTAGE ramp
- Built-in test sequences according to national and international standards

The test sequence is fully automatic. For all common national and international standards and test specifications, the corresponding test sequences are stored in the oil test device. Additionally, up to 10 test sequences can be self-defined and stored in the device.
In total, the following test runs are available
- 13 standard test sequences suitable for the following test standards:
- IEC 60156
- VDE 0370/96
- BS 5874/80
- UTE C27-221/74
- UNE 21309/89
- NEN 10156
- SEV 3141/69
- CEI 10-1/73
- ASTM-D 1816/90
- ASTM-D 877/90
- JIS 2101/82
- JIS Si 2101/82
- IS 6855/92
- 10 freely programmable test sequences
- Short test plan for rapid condition assessment (test duration: 5 min.)
- Overload test, individual breakdown measurement
- Withstand voltage test (1 min. – 24 h) with programmable ramp rate
- Step test (1 – 10 steps)
Oil samples can be identified by the PortaTest either automatically with a sequential number or by the operator entering a number.
After each test, a detailed test protocol is printed using the built-in thermal printer. In addition to the test standard used, the printout includes the date, time, sample number, individual breakdown values, as well as the mean value and standard deviation.
If necessary, the test results can also be transferred from the oil tester to the PC, saved and test reports printed out using SCHLEICH's own PrintCom PC software. PrintCom saves the results in EXCEL® format. The EXCEL® form is freely configurable and allows the easy creation of individual test reports.
Operation is very simple and user-friendly thanks to the clear graphic display. Four function keys below the display are sufficient for input. They are used for selecting the test sequence, data entry, configuring custom test sequences, and general configuration of the test device in the setup. Here, settings and options such as language, etc., can be selected.
