NetCom Communication
SCHLEICH-NetCom represents a network communication that has been proven for over 30 years between the control computer and the test device. It enables comprehensive remote control of the test device and has formed the basis for numerous test devices and automated test systems for decades.
Since 2020, NetCom has been replaced by the globally established and modern SCPI communication. SCPI offers significantly leaner, more structured, and more operator-friendly communication, meeting current requirements for automation and integration.
Historically, NetCom is designed to be very hardware-oriented. For example, each command is secured by checksums, which ensures particularly robust data transmission but requires a higher implementation effort on the operator side. In comparison, the equally robust SCPI communication is structured much more efficiently and clearly.
Since many thousands of delivered test devices are still successfully operated with NetCom, SCHLEICH consistently follows its principle of backward compatibility. Currently delivered test devices therefore support both modern SCPI communication and NetCom. This allows an older test device to be easily replaced by a new one without having to adapt existing control and automation concepts.
The result: maximum investment protection and long-term system security for our customers.
